Eclipse Media Group is a boutique agency specializing in the B2B technology industry. Because B2B is often considered less “glamorous” than B2C, and is a largely male-dominated field, it can be a difficult career field for young, diverse professionals to access. I’m a lifelong Mainer who married my college sweetheart. Growing up, I always dreamed about being a newspaper reporter and worked for my high school newspaper, yearbook and then college newspaper at West Virginia Wesleyan College. Through those years, I also played tennis competitively, including four years on my college’s Division II tennis team, and still play competitively today on several USTA adult tennis teams. I have two teens and a dog, Bauer.
How I spend my free time
Love to read, love watching my kids play sports and spent more 16+ years inside hockey rinks watching them play. I pretend to have a green thumb, but really, I just make it up as I go along. I have a large garden and my favorite and most successful vegetables that I grow are eggplant, tomatoes and cucumbers. I want to attend all four Grand Slam Tennis Tournaments – Wimbledon, Australian Open, U.S. Open and the French Open – it’s on my bucket list.
Why a career in the security/technology industry?
I really stumbled upon it by accident. I was working my dream job at a daily newspaper in Maine, but there was a recent change in the editorial team and all my fellow reporters started to leave. One of the reporters in the bureau office where I worked had a friend who worked for a publishing company that published trade newspapers, security being one of them. He told me about the job at the security publication and that I should apply – I said I would and didn’t. A week later he asked me if I sent in my resume and I said I did not, so I finally did. It turned out to be one of the best decisions I made to apply to that job, or I wouldn’t be where I am today.
Lifelong New Englander – I was born in Connecticut, educated in Rhode Island, and am a current resident of Maine (the coveted title of “Mainer” is by birthright only). I love spending time exploring the outdoors with my family on our boat, in the woods, and otherwise enjoying this truly great state however we can.

You’d think after not having stepped foot in an airplane in more than 12 months, this list would be a little more unique, so sorry to disappoint! Cooking, eating, hitting the trails (with my two enthusiastic dogs and occasionally my two reluctant kids) currently top the list. Come summer, I am looking forward to exploring some of the islands in Maine still on our list to check out, and will no doubt repeat my huge vegetable garden, hopefully with a little more success (last year’s COVID garden was 80% squash of various varieties and 20% green beans.) Oh, and I really like to grow orchids. Who knew?
Why a career in the security/technology industry?
Like most people, it was completely happenstance. After an education in journalism and working as a beat reporter at two daily newspapers in Connecticut and Maine, I moved into the B2B media world. My first role was covering the home medical equipment market, and then I made the move up the ladder to a managing editor position in security in the summer of 2001. Then came the attacks of Sept. 11. I remember sitting in front of my computer monitor, with our mockup front page with a picture of the fallen towers, feeling the absolute gravity of what had just occurred and what the industry was now facing. Little did I know that the industry would be transformed not by the aftermath of 9/11 but by the impending IP revolution that was about to become mainstream. Having witnessed and been part of the industry’s transition over the years has been at times exciting, thought provoking, occasionally frustrating but nearly always rewarding in some unique way. I think that is why so many of us have found our niches here.
I was born and raised in the green mountains of Vermont and I transplanted to Maine two years ago. Besides spending some time living outside of Philadelphia after college, I’m a New England lifer. I’m constantly fascinated by the history and beauty of New England, as well as the enduring spirit of its people. I spent my college years attending the University of Vermont, where I spent some time as a journalist for the school newspaper – covering everything from culture and news, to politics. Though my journalist aspirations were short-lived, I did find myself drawn to a career as a communications professional, in part because no two days are ever the same.

Where to start! I am an avid runner – if you consider ultra-marathoner “avid”, as “obsessed” might be a better term. I sort of fell into running about six years ago when I decided to run a half marathon, without ever running a full mile up until that point. Fast forward a handful of marathons and half-marathons later, and I found myself drawn into the world of trail running and then ultra-racing. As a kid growing up in Vermont, I was no stranger to spending my days in the forest surrounding my parents’ house, so trail running definitely brings me back to those roots. Also, living in Maine has only further fueled this hobby, as there is no shortage of trails, beaches, parks, etc. to explore. In my opinion, it’s one of the most beautiful places to live. Running has become a family activity as well, with both my husband and I training daily, along with our two dogs Beau and Finnegan – who are no stranger to a day spent on the trails. Outside of running, you can find me cooking/baking, reading and planning for future travel/races.

I joined Eclipse Media Group nearly two years ago and, for lack of a better term, I “fell into” this industry. The past few years have been a crash course in today’s technology and security trends, and I’ve found it fascinating. My background prior to Eclipse was in tourism marketing, and while I thoroughly enjoyed my time in the B2C market, I find there’s a lot to be said for B2B. The industry itself is on the cutting-edge of new technologies, and in some cases, ways of life, but there’s so much opportunity in bringing the marketing, social media and PR up to speed. B2B is sometimes passed over and can be slower to change than other industries, but it’s a special industry to be a part of and has so much potential.
I was born and raised in Beijing, educated in the UK and then moved back to Beijing. My personal motto is to always look at the bright side of my life.
How I spend my free time
When I’m not working, I love spending time with my husband and adorable son. Besides that, there are plenty of things I enjoy doing with my spare time, including traveling with my family, playing video games with my son and, when I’m alone and in a quiet place, I love reading.
Why a career in the security/technology industry?
It just happened. I have been working in the communication field for 10 years and I quite enjoy helping clients with their communication problems. The communication environment of the B2B market generates more complex and challenging issues, versus B2C – which I think it’s the most exciting thing when I work with B2B clients. It makes me feel a sense of accomplishment.
I am a Cantonese working in Beijing, who was born and raised in a coastal city. Two years ago, I transplanted to Beijing for work. Living and working in a whole different city is quite interesting and I’m trying daily to explore something new and fun in my life.
How I spend my free time
Reading is kind of a daily thing for me. Before I go to bed every night, I get used to reading some books, even just a few pages. Also, I am obsessed with skiing this winter. When I finally skied down the trail, I felt so good. I can hardly wait for the next snow season!
Why a career in the security/technology industry?
It is hard to have a specific explanation of how I started in the security industry. I studied media and culture at my university and started my career as a marketing executive. After that, I joined Ada’s team and provided communication service for Internet, security and other fields of clients. In B2B communications, it is always expected to contain highly detailed, well thought-out content, but it also needs to adopt a less formal tone for various social media channels, which I think is more challenging.
