A few of our favorite things: A gift guide for PR pros

EMG Blog - Gift Guide for PR pros

By Rachel Peck

Believe it or not, we have a little more than two weeks until Christmas so you might be scrambling for ideas for those left on your list this year (and if you’re really last minute, for Hanukkah). As PR and marketing pros, we consider ourselves pretty easy to buy gifts for, but the same can’t be said for everyone. With that in mind, we put together a list of gift ideas for all the professionals in your life. Here are a few of our favorite things (gift ideas):

To keep the home office smelling fresh
Let’s be real, we can’t always be baking banana bread or expected to keep our office spaces (or living rooms) smelling clean. Any communications professional, or anyone in your life really, could probably benefit from a candle or two. For your coworker who hates meetings and is always on mute, consider giving them this candle, lovingly infused with “a total waste of time.” If you have a writer on your list, help them overcome their occasional bout of writer’s block, with this candle, called “Creative Juices” to boost their creativity. On a serious note, for those on your list who are unable to travel to see loved ones for the holidays, we love the idea of a Homesick Candle.

Gadgets and gizmos galore
As a part-time remote office, and a tech focused PR company, we would be remiss if we left the latest smart devices and office must-haves off our lists. For the person who’s always cold or the lighting is never optimal, there is an all-in-one smart home system. If you’re shopping for an art enthusiast, consider giving them the gift of all their favorite works of art with a subscription to Meural. And finally, for the fitness/outdoors enthusiast who can’t sit still and doesn’t have a standing desk, take a look at Cubii – which features a miniature elliptical that fits under your desk. Nope, you didn’t read that wrong.

For the happiest of hours
Let’s be honest, this is the best hour and a gift all unto itself. But if you are searching for last minute gifts, a happy hour theme is almost always a good idea. For the wine fanatic there’s FirstLeaf, a wine club featuring a customized subscription box. Another great happy hour gift is a BrüMate – a sleek and stylish cooler for drinks of all kinds.

Stuffing those stockings
Many parents have found themselves not only working from home this year, but also part-time and full-time homeschooling their children. If you have one of these on your list, you should definitely consider giving them the gift of not being disturbed with a door hanger. Also a great stocking stuffer for any parent is Jot, an ultra coffee in concentrated liquid form. For the journalist in your life, check out the “can I quote you on that” mask. For your friend (or yourself) in PR who also happens to love Star Wars, there’s a mug for that.

We hope this list gave you a few ideas, at the very least, a place to start. One final tip, try not to wait till the last minute and we hope you enjoy the holiday season!
